I lost our bet...

I thought for sure Hope would be walking by now. I said by 10 months she will be walking. But that was a few days ago.

She has been standing and walking along furniture and toys since she was 6 1/2 months old. But she is not walking yet. She actually doesn't even like to try. She gets mad when you hold her hands to walk because she wants to get picked up and she just plops down on her bottom when you try and get her to stand on her own.

Oh well, I am sure it will come soon enough. But it seems like she wants to get around everywhere. I guess she is just content with crawling and hanging on!

Good thing I didn't really bet anything specific!!

Hawaii 2008

We finally made it to Hawaii. I have been promising Dave that we would go for over a year! I know that most of you are probably thinking...you put Hawaii off for over a year!! What??!! But seriously our lives have been nonstop and there just hasn't been a good time to go. And with two little ones it is hard!! BUT now we made an agreement that we will go to Hawaii every January for a couple of weeks. So let us know if you want to join us. The more the merrier.

Here are some pictures from our trip.

We hiked Diamondhead with the kids and Kristine. She is our babysitter and came with us for some of the trip. Isaiah loves her.
Isaiah hiked almost the whole thing by himself!

Aloha!

We just returned from Hawaii...I will post pictures soon. But in the meantime...check out some pictures my sister-in-law took of the kids.

I will tell you all about it tomorrow (hopefully). We are exhausted and the kids are sleeping so now we are on our way to bed. We never know what the night may bring=)

Yeah!!!

My sister-in-law, Dani, finally started a blog!! I have been bugging her for over a year to start one, so I could see more pictures of Makenzie. Well here it is...check it out.

Check out Danielle Bean's Blog

I love to read stories about how Dave's product affects real people. Read here.

My kids are too little right now for most of the product, but we have the Messengers of Faith in the car. AND...when the kiddos get tired of being in the car, we pull these out and they bring a huge smile to their faces!

Video Monitors

I know a lot of people don't use monitors especially video monitors on their children but...I love them!! Here are a few reasons why.

1. I can see what they are doing! I learned that Hope just loves to be left alone. She may be crying a little but usually she is laying down and playing with her lovie. She loves her crib and she will just roll around and put herself to sleep.

2. I love to watch them! Hope will play and play. Even when she wakes at night I know just to watch her. She will go find her paci and her lovie and lay back down (sometimes she dives down...it's so cute!)

3. I know when I am needed. I can tell when Isaiah is standing and standing and standing and is just not going down for a nap.

AND today....the cutest thing happened. Isaiah has a bunch of stuffed animals in his crib. He took each one and picked them up and danced or talked to it and then put it down and went on to the next one. It was so adorable.

I would miss all of this if I didn't have a video monitor. And I love to watch them because they grow so fast, change so much, and I don't like to miss any of it!

This one's for Carrie...

PROCEED WITH CAUTION!!!

A few years ago, my sister-in-law Carrie told me a story. I thought it was disgusting and prayed it would never happen to me.

BUT today at nap time.....it happened. I thought Isaiah was napping because he had been quiet for 1/2 an hour. Then I heard him screaming "MAMA" from his room. Usually I would leave him and let him go to sleep, but this was a different scream.

When I walked in, I knew it. It smelled so bad in there. I took one look at him and yelled for my Mom and Dave to come up. He pooped and put his hands in it and tried to wipe them off on his sheet. It was a mess.

We washed his hands and threw him in the tub while my Mom stripped the crib. Good thing I had some help. I know when this happened to Carrie it was A LOT worse and she was by herself.

I don't know if this is a boy thing or just a Socha thing??

I pray he learned his lesson and it won't happen again!!!

Some new pictures

Here are some new ones from the past couple weeks.

Aren't they cute!! I love when they play nice. Although Isaiah tries to carry her where he wants her to go.
Hope's first ponytail. So cute!
Grandpa Joe with the kiddos. They love him...even Hope. She crawls over to him and puts her arms up for him to pick her up! It is the sweetest thing.
We finally got out of the house and went to Simi Valley so my Dad could visit some of his friends. They have this cool little train that the kids can ride on. They both loved it!
You couldn't get Hope to sit down. She loved hanging out the window and waving to everyone.
Isaiah in all his camo gear. I got some great clothes for him at Children's Place and really cheap. Pants for $4.00 and Shirts for $3.00. Of course all the girl stuff was gone. Sorry Hope.

Sorry we have been quiet but....

it hasn't been quiet here. Here's whats been going on...

My Mom and Dad are in town.

Dave is still in Hong Kong.

Isaiah has been sick. He has a horrible cold, runny nose, bad cough, fever, and an ear infection. He has been very miserable and wanting only his Mommy. And of course he hates his medicine. I've tried everything...in his yogurt and juice, and of course bribery...but it is a pain and this is only the third day!! But he is doing better and is becoming more and more himself everyday. AND he is not sleeping well either. Now he is sick with night terrors...it is so sad and tiring!

Hope is a little sick, but not acting sick. She has a little runny nose and cough. Poor little thing some days Isaiah wont even let me hold her because he wants to be held. Good thing there are other people here to hold her.

The Energizer Bunny...It's Still Going

We bought Isaiah a balloon that sings "Happy Birthday" for his birthday. It says guaranteed to play 50 times. Dave made him stop playing it before everyone came over for his birthday party because we thought it would run out. Well....it is still going and it has been played way more than fifty times!!! It gets played at least twice a day! Anyway...it is almost completely deflated and still going...but it is finally going in the trash. Here are some pictures of Isaiah playing with it.

Oh yeah...he is just in his diaper because he loves to run around in it every night.

9 months

Hope is 9 months old already which means we went to get her pictures taken.

She is so cute. Of course she is not real fond of anyone she doesn't know so we didn't get huge smiles....but we did get some cute ones.

Isaiah is so funny too! He walked up while she was taking pictures and smiled and said cheese so she would take one of him. Then he sat next to Hope and put his arm around her and smiled again. Then he was done. He got his pictures and he was off.

We took Hope to her doctor's appointment last week too. She is 17 lbs 4 oz. and 28 1/2 inches long. She looks so petite though...completely opposite of my chunky Isaiah.

Nightmares/Night Terrors

Isaiah has been having these the past few weeks. He wakes up (sometimes...sometimes he is still asleep) and screams for Mama, Mama. Sometimes I can calm him down and he will go back to sleep. But other times he wants to get up! And it is usually 4:30 in the morning.

I don't let him scream and cry because he is obviously scared about something. Also...we don't want him to wake up Hope who is now our sleeper!

So has any else experienced these?? And is there anything you did that helped them go back to sleep?? We have tried rocking him, putting him in our bed or back in his crib and nothing seems to work. Hopefully these will pass soon.

Happy 2008!

Well...it has been almost 1 year since I started this blog. Last year my first entry was about New Year's resolutions. Although no one shared what their resolutions were...mine was to read everyday....AND I did it!!! Some days I didn't read however....Dave and I were reading the One Year Bible so I would catch up the next day if I happened to miss. I also read other books before Hope was born, but after she came I decided to just do one since it was hard even to do that.

I have been trying to think of a new resolution to do for this year and so far I came up with one thing. Lately I feel like I am rushing to get things done. Whenever the kids are playing well or whenever I am taking them out somewhere...I feel like I only have a short time period to do something. And as a result...I have damaged some very expensive things....like my computer and not one but two of our cars. No one else was hurt but it has hit me to slow down. I guess I will have to live with some crying kids sometime if I can't get out the door right away or try and do things after Dave gets home....I will have to figure it out.

So....are you daring enough to share your resolutions this year??

Anyway, I have really enjoyed blogging. I feel like more people know what is going on in our lives. And even though most of you don't comment....I get emails or phone calls to say hi and see how we are doing, which is so nice.
